Story
Why a 24 hour cycle?
We are both passionate about providing compassionate care to our patients and we recognise this is most important for patients in their last phase of life. We chose this to be a physical and mental challenge for us both and as a means of reflection.
"We cannot change the outcome, but we can affect the journey"
We will be cycling for 2 hours each, consecutively for 24 hours starting 12 noon on 29th May - 30th May 2025 at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
The Kirkwood
We are raising money for The Kirkwood who support many of our patients suffering with life limiting illnesses, and those who care for them. Right now, over 3,000 people in Kirklees are living with an illness from which they will not recover.
The Kirkwood's mission is to:
Provide the best quality of care and quality of life for patients
Extend their reach
To develop resources and use them wisely
Only 30% of their funding is provided by the government and the remaining 70% is through the generosity of donations.
How your donation could help
Any donation, no matter how big or small is an invaluable contribution.
A donation of £50 could pay for specialist counselling support for a patient and their family.
£100 could provide vital support to a patient in their own home from one of The Kirkwood Nurses.
