Hey Folks,

Welcome to the Paris cycling duo aka Katy and Sarah 😊👋🏻. We wanted to introduce ourselves a little bit and provide a bit more context and background to this personal challenge.

Join us as we take on the challenge of a lifetime in aid of Charlie House. This crazy duo adventure will see us travel by bike (not electric) from Charlie House HQ in Aberdeen to Paris via the Netherlands and Belgium in summer 2025.

Charlie House is a local organisation that help support children living with a life threatening or life limiting condition. Not only do they support the children, but they support their families, creating opportunities and memories to treasure.

This organisation has a special place in my heart. They have, and continue to provide support, family adventures and memories for my family. My niece and nephew are both diagnosed with Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) a rare neuromuscular disorder that results in the loss of motor neurons and progressive muscle wastage. This has resulted in my niece being in a wheelchair from a young age and both requiring regular medical reviews and medication for life.

Charlie House have provided my niece, nephew, their parents, myself and the extended family with numerous opportunities to take part in family activities for us all to enjoy together and to meet a number of wonderful people who share similar challenges and experiences. Making a difference and providing much needed escape from the differing daily challenges and stresses.

Currently in the North East, families have to travel over 100 miles to get support, respite and care when they need it. Charlie House is committed to building a specialist care facility which started in 2018 to raise £8 million however was disrupted by setbacks and rising costs due to COVID. They have not let this stop them and continue to work hard to achieve this dream facility. We are determined to do what we can to help them achieve this goal!
