Both sets of my grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1960s. They worked hard to provide for their families, ensuring their children were fed, educated and taken care of. For this, I am deeply grateful, as it set the scene for their grandchildren, who have had many opportunities to prosper.

I, being one of these grandchildren, am so acutely aware of those individuals who do not get to places where they can feel safe physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This fact drew my attention to disadvantaged and vulnerable street children in third world countries, who are at risk of trafficking, abuse, violence and much worse. I can't imagine the horror these young children face every day of their lives.

Many children end up on the street for all kinds of reasons; kidnapping, grooming, abandonment and running away from home because it's not safe. These children end up living in such dire circumstances, that their only option is to do whatever they have to, to stay alive. This should never be a child's only option.

Therefore, I am fundraising to help The Saalam Baalak Trust, based in New Delhi to be able to continue their amazing work providing residential shelter to children, medical care, mental health support, outreach services, education and 24/7 help desks, to children living on the streets in New Delhi, India.

I will be climbing Mount Snowdon for this cause on the 21st September 2024, weather permitting.

Please help me give back and help the street children in India, who desperately need us to keep them safe and provide them with the opportunities I and so many others have been lucky to have.
