Three Peaks Challenge · 20 September 2024

Supporting families whose children are receiving end of life care and in the immediate months after their loss to grieve. This could be in the form of grants and/or food vouchers, etc.

Story

Oliver O'Hare, Joe Day, Mike Notarbartolo, Mickey Mazzeo and I are embarking on a challenge to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours. Whilst this will undoubtably test our physical and mental strengths, it's inconceivable to understand what our dear friends Ben and Annie have and continue to endure. Losing their 13 month old daughter. They are the epitome of strength and courage. Many wouldn't know the time, energy, advice and empathy that they both provide to families that are going through the toughest time in their lives, quite frankly the last scenario any parent would wish to experience. They have focused their energy into the charity and fundraising events.

Their Mission for the charity

Elsie’s Rose wants to support parents of children receiving end-of-life care and in the immediate months after a child passes away, to alleviate some of the pressures of day-to-day life as they spend time with their child and grieve. This support could be help paying the bills such as rent, mortgages, utilities, food parcels and deliveries or counselling for parents or siblings. Our aim is to take some of the pressure off those parents and families in the darkest days they will ever experience as a parent. Grieving in itself is so exhausting, so we want to do this little gesture for parents like us in the name of our beautiful daughter Elsie.

Knowing Ben and Annie for more than 20 years. We wanted to raise awareness and contribute something to the memory of Elsie who we only had the pleasure of knowing for 13 short months, she played with our children and she will never be forgotten. The three peaks in 24 hours might not seem so challenging to us 10 years ago but after us all stepping away from rugby due to injuries and ailment’s, we will be pushing ourselves and each other up and down the mountains.

Please, those that can dig deep all the rest, contribute what you can for this wonderful cause.
