Brussels to Amsterdam cycle · 1 September 2023

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

We're now in the third year of the annual Patchwork cycling tradition, and this time we're stepping things up a gear for another fantastic cause. 🚴

Our annual cycle trips in 2021 and 2022 proudly raised a combined £6,879 for Alzheimer's Society and Momentum Children's Charity, two incredibly worthy causes very close to our hearts here at Patchwork.

But, like a bike with no brakes on, we can't stop once we've got going!

This year, we're excited to be taking on the open roads and coastal trails of Belgium and the Netherlands in our next challenge in support of the British Heart Foundation: Brussels to Amsterdam.

The route will see our 18-strong peloton cover over 310km of Dutch and Belgian landscape over 3 days, riding from Brussels to Bruges, Bruges to the Hague, and then finally onto Amsterdam.

The British Heart Foundation funds essential medical research into heart and circulatory diseases, supporting £100m worth of research every year. From heart diseases to stroke, vascular dementia to diabetes, the work they do is invaluable to curing and treating these often devastating diseases.

We chose to ride for this fantastic charity to show our support for everyone who has been impacted by cardiovascular diseases. One of our very own Patchworkers, Livi Jewell, experienced this first-hand. In her words:

I'm extremely grateful to everyone who donates to the British Heart Foundation in support of the Patchwork team's amazing cycling challenge. My dad died suddenly from a heart condition two years ago, so I know how important the BHF's lifesaving research and awareness building is to those with cardiovascular conditions, as well as to their families and friends. I have no doubt that the Patchwork cyclists will smash their ride, so if you can support them and this amazing charity, please consider donating.

Please wish the team all the best, and if you’re willing and able to make a donation, we’ll be incredibly grateful.
