Story
I'm a Trustee of the Booth Centre, a community centre that has been supporting the Manchester community affected by poverty and homelessness for nearly 30 years.
Do you know that*?
- The average age of death for people experiencing homelessness is 45 for men and 43 for women.
- People sleeping on the street are almost 17 times more likely to have been victims of violence. More than one in three people sleeping rough have been deliberately hit or kicked or experienced some other form of violence whilst homeless.
- Homeless people are over nine times more likely to take their own life than the general population.
This November, I'm taking on the challenge of sleeping out at the Cathedral in solidarity with the more than 7,500 people living without stable homes in Manchester.
All donations made go directly towards supporting the fantastic work undertaken by the Booth Centre in supporting our community.
