Story
I had never appreciated how valuable getting a place at Oakhaven would be until we were told that my mum could no longer be treated and needed to get to a hospice immediately. The 24 hrs waiting to hear if a place could be found was traumatic, desperately praying to get her out of the shared hospital ward to Oakhaven to be able to die with dignity. From the moment we walked in, the staff were so caring and they helped us through one of the most difficult times in our lives. They looked after my mum making sure that her death was a peaceful and painfree as possible and supported us as well. I will be eternally grateful for what Oakhaven did for my mum and our family, it is not until you need it that you realise how special and valuable a place this is!
