This year, Scott and I are taking on the Manchester Marathon for The Christie — and yes, this will be both of our first full marathon. This means we’re going to need every bit of support and encouragement to get us across that finish line.

We’re also very aware we’re late bringing this JustGiving page to the table — time has flown since we entered last year, and suddenly the marathon is very real.

Thankfully, we do have one advantage…Scott’s got his own physiotherapist AKA me.

So we’re fully expecting some last-minute miracle work and a strong “you’ll be fine” attitude as we attempt to run 26.2 miles by choice.

Cancer is something that has touched us deeply, as it has so many. Alongside the incredible work of The Christie, we’ve been inspired by the courage and determination of close family members who have battled cancer. Watching their strength, resilience, and refusal to give up has genuinely made running a marathon look easy in comparison.

Every pound raised will go directly towards funding a total body PET CT scanner at The Christie. This groundbreaking technology allows doctors to see cancer as never before — scanning the entire body in one go, helping to detect cancer sooner and create faster, more targeted treatment plans. This means better care for patients and supports the development of life-saving and life-changing treatments.

So while we’ll be stretching, sweating, and almost certainly questioning our life choices around mile 18, we’ll be doing it for something so much bigger than us. Knowing we’re running to make a real difference is exactly what will drag us over that finish line — even if it’s on stiff legs and pure stubbornness.
