Pat’s LM27 fundraiser for Farleigh Hospice

Patrick Day is raising money for Farleigh Hospice

Farleigh Hospice provides compassionate care, support and guidance, free of charge, to adults in mid Essex with life-limiting illnesses and their families. NHS funding covers only part of our costs, so we rely on our community's kindness and generosity to continue this vital care.

Story

After completing my first half marathon in Brighton in March 2026, I wanted to set myself an even bigger challenge — so in 2027, I’ll be running the London Marathon for Farleigh Hospice.

Farleigh Hospice provides incredible care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Essex. The money raised helps ensure they can continue offering compassionate, specialist care when it’s needed most.

This charity is particularly close to the hearts of my friends Judy Payne-James and Alex Earl, who sadly lost their mums, Barbara Hodgkins and Teresa Earl, in 2022. In their final weeks, Farleigh Hospice provided Barbara and Teresa with the care, comfort and support they needed, while also supporting their families through an incredibly difficult time.

Judy and Alex will always be incredibly grateful to Farleigh Hospice for the care they provided to their mums, and for the continued support they provide to thousands of people and families every year. It’s a privilege to be able to take on this challenge and raise money for a charity that has had such a meaningful impact for Alex and Judy

Training for 26.2 miles certainly won’t be easy, but knowing that every step is helping such an important cause will keep me motivated all the way to the finish line.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution will make a real difference and help Farleigh Hospice continue providing the care and support that families need during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Thank you so much for your support!
