Story
Hello!
I’ll be running the Dublin Marathon in October for dementia UK and your support would be greatly appreciated!
My Grandma Maura unfortunately had dementia and I saw first hand how it affected her and our family. Before dementia she was a keen runner and signed up to marathons for fun! One of the marathons she ran was Dublin and when she passed away I inherited her Dublin marathon medal! Since then I’ve always wanted to take part so I can place my medal next to her’s. I came across the opportunity to run for dementia uk at Dublin and it felt like the stars had aligned - running the same course my Grandma ran for a cause that’s very close to our family!
Thank you for your support!
All the best
Patrick
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
