Story
From 11–24 September, I’ll be covering more than 380 miles, climbing nearly 8000m, as I run across the Southwest of England to raise funds for SoNAR, the neonatal transport service I’m proud to be part of. Every day, our teams move premature and critically ill babies between hospitals in the Southwest England* so they can receive the specialist care they urgently need. These journeys are often time‑critical, emotionally intense, and absolutely life‑changing for families.
Neonatal transport is one of those services you hope you’ll never need — but when you do, it becomes everything. This run is my way of giving something back to the babies, families, and clinical teams who rely on us.
It’s going to be tough — physically and mentally — but nothing compared to what neonatal families face, day after day. Their strength is my motivation.
*SoNAR supports neonatal teams across the region, in Truro, Plymouth, Torbay, Exeter, Barnstaple, Taunton, Yeovil, Bath, Swindon, Gloucester and Bristol, as well as bringing SW babies born elsewhere in the UK back to their local units. SoNAR also transfers SW babies to other national specialist centres when required, such as in Birmingham or London.
