Story
I am raising money for Amnesty International UK by taking part in the Everest Base Camp Challenge. I will be trekking to the iconic Everest Base Camp. This is a multi-day trek to significant altitude (5,645m above sea level.)
Your donations will help Amnesty International UK expose human rights abuses in the UK and all over the world and to campaign for freedom and justice. Amnesty International UK work on a wide range of issues including women's rights, refugee rights, the human rights impact of climate change and in support of individuals whose rights have been violated.
To raise the money for Amnesty International, I am working with some fellow fundraisers to plan and organising multiple different events in the local area and nearby cities. Such as:
- Raffle at my university, which is supported by both amnesty international and Keele university. To organise this, I am calling local business to ask for donations and I have talked to the Student Union to secure a place at the refreshers fair on Monday 27th January.
- Collections in Manchester city centre. I have talked to the charity and they have agreed to back me up while I organise a trip with my fellow fundraisers into Manchester city centre to collect donations and talk to people about the charity.
- Pub quiz in the local area. We have contacted local pubs/bars about hosting a pub quiz to raise money.
- sponsored walks. I am planning on doing some sponsored walk around Newcastle-under-Lyme and Keele university to help raise money towards my goal.
