Story
Hi everyone
Thanks very much for making your way to my fundraising page.
You may have seen or heard me in the media recently, talking about my experience of using Care Counselling’s service when I was on the verge of suicide. The impact that they had on my life is very difficult to put into words but, by the end of my counselling journey, I felt absolutely amazing and that’s not an exaggeration. I have not needed to speak to a counsellor or take medication to treat my mental health since leaving the service. I am in no doubt that, without them, my family would be without a son & brother and it’s testament to the fantastic service they provide.
According to the NI Mental Health Champion website in a paper published in October 2023, one in 5 adults and one in 8 children here have a probable mental illness and we need to deal with it. Care Counselling helps people no matter where they live in NI but they receive no state funding… they rely on the generosity of the public to keep going and they have launched an URGENT APPEAL to raise £30,000 or the service WILL NOT SURVIVE. I’m sure you’ll agree, we need more counselling services like this, not less so in an effort to help them, on the night of Saturday 20 July 2024, I will be in a sleeping bag, lying outside their counselling rooms in Belfast, trying to raise as much money as I possibly can and I’m asking you to support me in this endeavour.
Please help me to help them by giving what you can and share this page far and wide.
Thanks a million!
