There is someone in the UK diagnosed every 3 minutes with Dementia, and one of those is my dad.

We all thought he was just getting a bit forgetful initially and put it down to old age. It soon became obvious that it was more than this and he was finally diagnosed earlier this year.

I have watched my dad, Brian, slowly change from a man who had strong opinions to someone who now loves to colour. He is remembering things from the past with such clarity but struggles to remember that he has had dinner that day.

It is a cruel condition to witness however there are times that he has me in stitches with some of the things he says.

We know as a family that things will only get worse in time however we hang on to the hope that a cure can be found for the sufferers of the future.

I will be walking the 26 miles today alongside my daughter Leanne and her colleagues to try and raise as much as we can for this worthy cause.

I would really appreciate it if you could donate whatever you can. I have done zero training and expect a lot of blisters and pain by the end of this walk but that will be nothing compared to the pain experienced by the loved ones of those with Alzheimers on a daily basis as they slowly lose the person they once knew.
