Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have Polycystic Kidney Disease, I am told my form is genetic but I didn't find out about it until 2016. There followed a rapid drop in my kidney function until in 2022 it was low enough to start checking me for dialysis, by the next year I was placed on the transplant list and told that it could be about three to four years before a suitable kidney might be offered. As it turned out I was so lucky to get a transplant after only one year on the list and just before I started dialysis. Despite getting this amazing gift of a transplant I still have Polycystic Kidney Disease and all its problems. Many people believe they removed one or both kidneys, they don't. So I have 2 defunct kidneys and a third working one.

Over the years I have had lots of information and support from the PKD charity and website. Now I would like to give something back. They are one of the underfunded charities and they need funds to continue their research into this disease in the hope of finding ways to slow, reverse or find a cure.

I will be doing an abseil from 400+ft at the National Abseil Centre in Northampton, 19th July.
