EDC registered as a charity in 2009. We provide group and 1:1 therapeutic support for those living with dementia, we also provide information and support for the families of those living with dementia. In the last 15 years we have helped thousands of people to navigate their dementia journey, bringing purpose, enjoyment, and hope to their lives.

Story

I am a member of the Chelmsford Rivermead Rotary Club and this year Essex Dementia Care is our chosen charity. Unlike the national bodies where a major focus is on research, Essex Dementia Care focuses on supporting dementia victims and their families through activity groups and one2one services. Currently most of the groups are in Chelmsford, but groups also meet in Bradwell and Braintree. They reminisce about past experiences, but also people are encouraged to engage in new activities. For more information see www.essexdementia care.org.uk

Caroline and I have a close friend, now in her 90s, who sadly has had to move into a care home with a dementia unit. Having seen the devastating effect of dementia on her, I am determined to help others suffering from dementia.
