We are Evie’s Muddy Warriors — Paul (Evie’s dad) and his cousins Lee, Matthew, and Ant — and we’re taking on Tough Mudder to raise money for the Owen McVeigh Foundation, a charity that has supported our family through the darkest time of our lives.

In July 2025, our world shattered when Evie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Overnight, everything changed. Life became a blur of hospital wards, chemotherapy, fear, exhaustion, and heartbreak. Evie endured months of treatment no child should ever have to face — long hospital stays, painful procedures, serious infections, and complications. She lost her hair, her independence, and so much of her childhood — but she never lost her bravery, her smile, or her fighting spirit.

When your child is fighting for their life, everything becomes about survival. Days blend into nights. You live in constant fear. You forget what normal life even feels like.

That’s where the Owen McVeigh Foundation became so incredibly special to us.

They didn’t just offer support — they gave Evie something priceless: memories.

They helped create special experiences that reminded Evie she was still a child, not just a patient. Moments of joy. Moments of excitement. Moments where cancer wasn’t the centre of everything. And for us as a family, those moments meant more than words can ever explain.

When so much is taken away by illness, those memories become something you hold onto forever.

This Tough Mudder isn’t just a physical challenge for us — it’s deeply personal. Every obstacle represents what Evie has already overcome. Every muddy mile is for her, and for every child still fighting battles they shouldn’t have to face.

We’re doing this to say thank you — and to help Owen McVeigh continue giving other families the same joy, light, and unforgettable memories that meant everything to us.
