The Blaydon Races · 9 June 2025

St Nicholas is a Christian parish church within the Church of England. We seek to live out and share the good news of Jesus Christ in different ways, in worship, witness, mission, outreach, in acts of loving service and care. We are committed to creating inclusive and safe spaces, welcoming to all.

Story

Are ye ready te gan te The Blaydon Race? Paul is - ish!

Paul is running in the Blaydon Race, this is his first ever race having started running last year. He's hoping to not only complete the 10K but to do it in a good time too. Rather than receive a finishers medal, as is traditional with the Blaydon Race he will get a Ham and Pease Pudding Stottie - Paul is delighted about this!

As taking part in this race is a big challenge for him, he’s using the opportunity to ask for sponsorship to raise money towards the £5,000 needed for structural repairs to St Nicholas Church Hall, West Boldon. The church hall, in the heart of West Boldon, is one of very few community spaces in the area and we'd like to undertake the repairs needed to ensure it continues to be a space for all the community to use.

The hall is used each week for groups like Slimming World, Rainbows and Brownies, Community Coffee Mornings and much more. Last year volunteers from our community gave hours of their time to redecorate the space and made huge improvements, but we've not had the funds to tackle the building work repairs needed, the final piece of the jigsaw.

We would really appreciate your support and sponsorship.
