Hi

So I'm just about to depart the UK to face what some consider to be the toughest race on the planet, the Marathon des Sables. It's a 6-stage 252km (156 Miles) ultramarathon across endless sand dunes in the Sahara Desert, carrying what you need to survive for 7 days on your back!

I was persuaded to sign up (thanks Ben) 8 months ago, and it's been an epic journey just getting to the start line. I'm under no illusions that my chances of completing it are slim, so I was in two minds as to whether to ask for sponsorship. However on reflection I think it's important to raise awareness, and hopefully some funds, for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer effects 1 in 8 men so the chances are you've got family members who've been affected like my family.

My very generous employer Legal and General will be matching what I raise, so whatever you give is doubled :)

I'm aiming to raise as much as I can for this important cause, and every pound counts. Your generosity will help fund vital research and support for those affected by prostate cancer.
