We support the homeless and vulnerable people across five East London boroughs and those in need because of domestic violence and homophobia. We provide food, clothing, personal hygiene and accommodation, working with local authorities and charities.

Story

You could be a Beacon of Hope

Donate to Help me to help the Homeless, Hungry, and Vulnerable Today.

Last Friday, December 8th, I was run over at Grove Park near the Co-Op: I was hit by a car doing a poorly thought out 3 point turn. Thankfully, the warmth of Wanstead's community shone through as friends and strangers rushed to my aid. After a hour on the ground, tremendous NHS care, with a broken tibia and a week's recovery behind me, I find myself reaching out for your support once more.

I spent 90 minutes shivering on cold tarmac. For some people that is there life 24/7. Let's help them.

Contribute to the Wanstead Charity Appeal today. The pandemic unearthed hidden needs within our community, yet it also sparked an extraordinary wave of solidarity. We've collectively devoted countless hours and raised substantial funds, providing direct assistance to the most vulnerable among us.

The Wanstead Charity, born from the challenges of COVID-19 and nurtured by local efforts, has been a beacon of hope across the East End. It's been an honour witnessing the dedication of James, Christelle, Suzi, Michael, Serena, and their team in offering support and respect to those in need.

While I can't host one of my Marmiton Charity Nights (Chris Trouard, you're missed!), consider this my virtual charity dinner. My goal is simple: raise £2,000. Your donation, even as little as a fiver, can bring significant relief, and perhaps even joy, to someone's life.

Every penny you donate through Just Giving's Charity Platform reaches The Wanstead Charity directly, wisely managed by Treasurer Mike Calvert.

Your contribution, whether £1 or £100, symbolizes more than just financial aid. It represents a message of solidarity to someone facing hardship – be it a senior citizen, a domestic violence survivor, or a child in a struggling household. It's a reminder that they are not alone.

Please donate now.

Twenty years ago, I drove a charity soup van. Every individual without a home once led a regular life before unforeseen circumstances changed their path. Your donation could be a lifeline, providing necessities like clean underwear, a nutritious meal, or even a pair of shoes.

Imagine the collective impact we can make. Even at school, if 20 classmates donate a pound each, that's £20 to feed a family. Ask your kids to join in.

Above all, your donation brings dignity and respect to someone in need, while also enriching your own sense of well-being. As Kate Moss might say, "Nothing feels as good as giving."

Let's make this Christmas special, not just for our families, but for those who need our help the most.

Please donate today

Thank you for visiting and for your generosity. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.

Every penny of your donation goes direct to The Wanstead Charity, no deduction, no commission, no middleman - I know because I tested it! Mike said thanks!

Finally, A Merry Christmas, Happy and Healthy New Year to all, especially our wonderful Wanstead SNT team and their MPS colleagues who came to my aid last Friday and drove me to King George Hospital , (Gold star for Christine and Carrie!) and the incredible King George A&E Team, led by Dr Ali, who made a very sore and very sad man slightly less sore. You are the best of the best.

And please don't forget to donate!
