Story

This Year I am honoured to be representing Team Reece Davis, please see below his story about how his life was cut short due to this horrible disease.

December 22nd 2024, marks the 10th anniversary of our friend Reece who passed away, he was 22 years old.

Reece was a typical 22 year old, loved a pint of fosters down the pub with his friends, playing snooker (he was a champion at this) and watching his favourite team Liverpool play whenever they were on the telly.

He absolutely loved to gamble, you’d find him at work sitting at the back on the online slots rather than calling his customers, but that was just Reece, a cheeky chap with a smile that would cheer you up at any moment and a heart of pure gold.

When Reece was first diagnosed with cancer it was a big shock, but true to himself he remained positive and hopeful and was determined to win.

He spent most of his time being treated at The Royal Marsden hospital and being housed by “Home from Home” charity close to the hospital so he had a place to rest in between treatment.

During treatment he was away from his family and friends so it was tough on him mentally but he held it together well always keeping in touch with his friends keeping our spirits up daily with silly jokes and snapchats of him singing to us – mainly Happy by Pharrell Williams, this become such a sentimental song between Reece and his friends that it was played during his funeral as a tribute between them all.

Reece battled for two years until he couldn’t fight no more, it took him from his family, his friends and his freedom.

He was so young and even with the best treatment available to him at the time he still unfortunately lost his battle, he passed peacefully at home with his girlfriend and his family around.
