Story
On March 20th 2023 I was taken to A&E at the Q.E.Q.M at the lowest point in my life. I arrived at the height of my alcohol addiction and cocaine use with suicidal ideology. With help from the incredible people who work there I began my road to recovery.
Inspired by what I went through while at the Q.E.Q.M I applied to work there in June 2023 and have been a porter there for 3 years. Working alongside people who helped save my life is truly incredible and everyday is a reminder of what happens here for the patients.
I will attempt to do a 32 mile ultra marathon starting at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford to Kent and Canterbury Hospital and finishing at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate. As I call it Patient to Porter, I will run the first half while wearing patient pyjamas. With the tagline "Putting in a Shift" I will clock in at Ashford and clock out at Margate hopefully within the 8 hours I would normally do as a porter on shift.
As I have said before, this place saved my life and everyday helps support my sobriety. I hope by attempting this challenge I can give a small bit back to a place that gave me back everything.
Thank you for your support.
