Paul's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society

Paul Davis is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Team: Sandy Feet - Sahara 2026 Trek

Sahara Desert Trek · 21 November 2026

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Back in March 2025 I was part of a team that took on a charity challenge in the frozen lands of the arctic circle in northern Sweden. We were responsible for our own team of husky’s where we covered 200km sledding through forests and frozen lakes.

The team have re-formed but this time to take on the heat of the Sahara Desert. In November 2026 we will each be covering a challenging 100km on this five-day trek passing through valleys, gorges, plateaus, sand dunes and oases across. At night we will be sleeping under the African skies in Berber style tents.

The team are raising funds for various charities, and I will be supporting the Alzheimer’s Society. There are currently around 1 million people in the UK living with dementia. It mainly affects people over the age of 65.

The likelihood of developing dementia increases significantly with age. One in 14 people aged over 65 has dementia. Many of us will have been touched by dementia and it is a horrible to witness.

The challenge runs from 21st to 28th November 2026 and my target is to raise £2,500. Your support with my challenge will make a meaningful impact giving help and hope to people living with dementia.
