Story
On 7th June last year our family lost our “Big Dog” my dad. He left a space in our hearts and lives that can never be filled, but we carry him with us in everything we do.
On June 13th our family are taking on Gelt Gladiator in memory of our amazing dad — a man who meant everything to us, the heart of our family
Taking on the Gelt Gladiator will be a challenge for us all, but it’s nothing compared to what so many families go through. We’ll be climbing, crawling, slipping, and probably laughing (and complaining!) our way through a 10km cross country assault course.
Dad always lived life to the fullest, with humour and a big heart, so we’re doing this challenge the only way we know how — to “Live Like Gren”.
Dad was poorly for some time before he passed away, spending several weeks in The Cumberland Infirmary. When it became clear he wasn’t going to recover, dealing with this and trying to work out what to do for the best under the circumstances was incredibly stressful for our entire family. This is when Eden Valley Hospice stepped in to help.
Eden Valley Hospice cared for dad with such kindness, dignity, and compassion, and supported our whole family through one of the hardest times of our lives, especially my mum. The care they provide is truly special, and it’s something we as a family will never forget. Dad’s last few days would have been very different without the incredible staff and facilities provided by Eden Valley Hospice. Since dad passed away the hospice have offered mum incredible emotional support and friendship in many forms, for which my family and I are all very grateful.
This is our way of saying thank you and hopefully giving something back to Eden Valley Hospice. Every donation, big or small, will help them continue their incredible work for other families just like ours, at their moment of greatest need.
Your donation truly means everything to us. Thank you for your support ❤️
