I’m running the Manchester to Liverpool 50 mile Ultra Marathon on 29th March 2024.

I’ve ran multiple race distances over the last few years and during 2023 I completed multiple races which included 4 x marathons. This distance however, will be the longest distance I have ever covered. The thought of doing this race is daunting, but I have an incredible cause to keep me motivated.

‘Imagine being targeted and killed simply because of what you do for a living, in these cases, for being a police officer’.

I know opinion about the police can be polarised, but whatever your opinion, it’s a fact that the overwhelming vast majority of people who work for the police are caring, decent, hardworking and trustworthy individuals who simply want to make our society a better place. They often work in the most difficult of circumstances and suffer the height of abuse for simply trying to do the right thing. They bear witness to awful events throughout their careers and they play their part in making our communities a safer place.

Neil and Dave both served our communities and their lives were taken from them in horrendous circumstances. Sadly they are not the first and likely won’t be the last. Their wives and friends recognised the need to support the families of officers who have lost their lives in similar circumstances. As such, they started this charity a few years ago to support those families.

I believe this is a fantastic charity and I would like to raise as much money as I can whilst I undertake this challenge.

I and the charity would be very grateful for any donation you can make, no matter how big or small.

Thank you,

Paul
