Story
Tom had a passion for the mountains, he spent his life here. He also devoted his life to sharing his hard earned knowledge with others to enable them to have great experiences in the environment he loved so much too. Unfortunately we lost Tom to the mountains in June 2022, but the Tom Furey Memorial Trust was set up in his name to continue the work he was so keen to do. Your donations and support are very much appreciated, and will help us to support and enable others to safely and independently enjoy the mountains.
The aim of this 18 day challenging trek is to experience the beauty of the Himalaya and its culture, similar to Tom’s experiences.
The circular trip is regarded by many as Nepal’s best trek; it has everything you would expect from the Greater Ranges, spectacular views, unspoiled and hugely varied countryside, from rice terraces to spare Tibetan villages and from rich forest to a high pass crossing at just over 5000m.
The trek is both geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating; many of the upper regions’ communities are direct descendants of Tibet, whilst Larkya La Pass at 5160m is one of the most dramatic crossings in the Himalaya. From a cultural perspective, our whole time whilst trekking is spent with the Sherpas, living in their homes, eating traditional food and sharing their sense of humour.
I hope the above provides an overview of what I am undertaking, together with the details of the charity I aim to support. I hope, like me, you can see what the Tom Furey Memorial Trust can do and would like to thank you in advance for your sponsorship and support.
Kind regards and best wishes.
Paul
