The Cotswold Lakes Trust does a great job increasing biodiversity and protecting lovely things like native Water Voles and scarce Black Poplar trees all whilst improving the lakes for people, too. There are 180 lakes over 42 square miles in the Cotswold Water Park so they have their work cut out.

To support them I'm swimming the Selkie Henley Classic. Upstream in the Thames at 4am (have to be out of the water before the boats get going).
