Story

In September 2025, my mom was diagnosed with ALS (a form of motor neurone disease) which is a degenerative condition with no cure. This was a complete shock and heartbreaking news for me and my family. My mom has dedicated her life to serving others and this couldn’t have happened to someone less deserving.
Personally, my mom is my best friend and my greatest support and I couldn’t imagine having to ever do life without her.

Despite her diagnosis, my mom has been so positive and continued to be a support for others. My mom has always taught us that every situation can be used for good and that’s what I plan to do.
I am running the Great North Run 2026 to raise money for MND association.
Running has been such a powerful outlet for me since my mom’s diagnosis. It has given me something to focus on and aim towards and given me space to escape.
One of the hardest feelings I have had to face during this time is a feeling of hopelessness as there isn’t a cure for MND.
I hope by raising money for MND association that one day a cure can be found and to give hope to another family having to go through this.
