100km Run in Full Firefighter Bunker gear · 1 May 2026

Wounded Warriors Canada is a national mental health service provider specializing in culturally informed services that utilize a combination of education, counselling and training approaches to support resiliency and recovery from post-trauma injuries.

Story

This May 1st, 2026, in support of mental health week

I’ll be attempting to Run 100 kilometres in Full Firefighter bunker gear, beginning at the Top of the City of Kawartha Lakes to the Bottom,

Fire Station 1 in Minden, ON and finishing at Fire Station 8 in Pontypool, ON

No shortcuts, No gear changes, Just one long, challenging day fuelled by purpose, grit, and community support.

This challenge was first dreamt up in 2019, but like many things, it was put on hold during the pandemic, It’s Now finally time to turn that “Dream” into reality.

But this run is about more than the challenge.

I’m Running for Wounded Warriors Canada.

The incredible organization that supports the mental health and well-being of Veterans, First Responders, and their families—people who have dedicated their lives to protecting others.

Many carry invisible wounds: PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma. These struggles are often unseen, but their impact is just as real and life-altering as any physical injury.

Through innovative, evidence-based mental health programs, Wounded Warriors Canada provides critical support that helps individuals heal, reconnect with their families, and rediscover hope.

Why This Matters,

Every kilometre of this run represents the weight many Veterans and First Responders carry every single day—often silently.

By supporting this challenge, you are helping fund programs that:

• Provide access to vital mental health support

• Strengthen families affected by trauma

• Break the stigma around asking for help

Your donation turns effort into impact, pain into purpose, and kilometres into hope.

How You Can Help Donate,

Every dollar makes a difference,

Help spread the word and raise awareness,

Whether online or along the route, your support fuels every step.

What began as a dream in 2019 is finally becoming a reality.

Together, we can turn 100 kilometres into something far bigger than a run.

This run is about standing behind the people who have spent their lives standing up for others.

Thank you for believing in this challenge and for supporting those who protect our communities.
