Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Paul will be walking the ‘Hebridean Way’, which is a long distance path along a set of islands, called the Outer Hebrides or Western Isles, far out in the Atlantic in the North West of Scotland.
The Hebridean Way is approximately 200 miles long from the tiny island of Vatersay to the very end of the island of Lewis at the Butt of Lewis lighthouse.
The route covers 10 islands linked by 6 causeways and 2 ferries. It will be a challenging and, at times, quite arduous walk over roughly 12 – 14 days from 10th September to 23rd. He will be crossing (boggy!) moorland, hills and sandy beaches.
Paul has walked up mountains and across our national parks before but has done nothing on this scale previously and is looking forward to it. Some times he will be sleeping in a tent, other nights in hostels. He will be carrying all he needs in a rucksack and celebrating by foot the amazing beauty and wonderful peace of the islands – still one of the most remote and stunning parts of the British Isles, where Gaelic is often spoken as the first language in many communities.
If you would like to see what the Hebrides and this long-distance walk looks like here’s a link to a BBC Scotland series where Iain Robertson recently walked the Hebridean Way
