Campaign by St John Ambulance (RCN 1077265/1)
Hundreds of runners will be taking part in the London Marathon 2025 to raise funds for St John Ambulance, the charity that picks you up, dusts you down, and gets you over the finish line.

Story

We are the charity that steps forward in the moments that matter, to save lives and keep communities safe. We are a market leader in the provision of workplace training, first aid supplies, and event and ambulance services.

It is only with your help that we can continue to help keep communities safe.

My first & hopefully my last experience of needing St John’s Ambulance was back in 2003 at a music festival where I had my first panic attack & seemingly signalled the start of my mental health struggles, although in hindsight the signs had been there for quite some time, anyway I digress, the attack came from nowhere, I was reduced to a crumpled mess on the floor, unable to breath properly, had little control of my hands & the tingling sensation all over my body was unbearable. I was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical unit on the site, where I was dealt with in an absolutely fantastic manner, they got my breathing sorted & the other symptoms remedies themselves. They were so calm & caring, explained what had happened & how to deal with it if it were to happen again. I cannot thank them enough for getting me through a very scary time.

Now some many years later, my daughter Mia is a cadet with SJA at their Edlington branch, learning very valuable lessons in first aid & life skills. & should the need ever arise, she’ll be the helping, reassuring hand for someone in need

Also in recent years, I’ve discovered running to be great therapy & helps me to switch my brain off for a while. So now I get to combine running this amazing event & helping St John’s be there for others
