Climb for Cures - Yorkshire Three Peaks · 1 June 2024 ·
In September 2021 our stepdad Gary was diagnosed with grade 4 Glioblastoma, a fast growing, aggressive type of brain tumour.
As a family this hit us really hard, but we would like to thank and acknowledge everyone that has been there to support. From the initial operation, to radiotherapy and endless chemotherapy, there is a huge amount of work that goes into treating this awful disease.
Sadly, it still isn’t enough, which is why we are hoping to fundraise for the Brain Tumour Charity, by challenging ourselves to something we didn’t believe we are actually capable of! The idea of trekking over 24 miles over 3 different peaks in a 12 hour period is daunting but not as much as being diagnosed with an incurable disease.
Over £700m is spent on cancer research in the UK every year, yet less than 3% is spent on brain tumours despite it being the biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40.
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading charity dedicated to funding research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we're moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.
In June this year we will be completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for the charity. We would really appreciate any donations to help us get to our aim.
