When I saw an email from Maggie's just a few days after my beautiful wife, Jude, passed away I decided I just had to sign up for this charity event. It's a 90km bike ride through the Surrey Hills, near to where we live, and covers many of roads and hills that we've ridden many times before.

Jude loved cycling and we completed a similar bike ride in Scotland last year. She'd have loved to have done this ride as well, since Maggie's does such great work at the Royal Marsden in Sutton, where Jude had been receiving cancer treatment for the previous couple of years.

The ride takes place on 20th September, which also happens to be my birthday - so fate, coincidence, or perhaps Jude herself was telling me I had to enter the event.
