Welcoming Kit into the world back in February wasn't without it's initial challenges as he had to spend some time receiving treatment and observation in the special care unit. As part of his treatment, Stef aiming to feed him every 3 hours was really important and was going to be a real challenge getting to and from the hospital - especially in the early hours of the morning.

We were extremely fortunate to get a room at the Ronald McDonald house across the road from the hospital which enabled us to spend our time with Kit. The venue provides a home away from home for as long as the family needs it and is set up for families to move in straight away - providing everything they would need (including food if needed) to just focus on their child.

We were fortunate that our stay lasted only a couple of weeks, but other families require it for months, allowing them to spend time with their child in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is free of charge and is offered to anyone who requires it. The staff were extremely welcoming, enabled Clemmie to stay with us some nights and this allowed us to spend time as a family in difficult circumstances.

It is something you don't think about until you need it.

So to raise money, to enable other families to benefit, I am throwing myself out of a plane - I hope you will sponsor me in order to help keep this hugely special charity being able to offer help to families facing an emotional and uncertain time.

At Ronald McDonald House Charities UK, the Charity provides free 'home away from home' accommodation at specialist children's hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their poorly child during their treatment, to maintain a degree of normal family life.

As an independent charity, they rely on the generosity of our wonderful supporters who go above and beyond to help us keep thousands of families close to their sick children each year. Some of those amazing individuals are even braving the highest heights by skydiving all in the name of our families!
