Paul's fundraiser for Velindre Cancer Centre

Paul Mason is raising money for Velindre Cancer Centre

Rat Race 100: Castle to Castle · 19 July 2025

Velindre Cancer Services provides treatment, care and support to patients and their families. Money raised by our fundraisers allows us to support projects over and above those provided by the NHS including ground breaking research, specialist equipment, nurses and staff training.

Story

Last June I participated in Rat Race The Wall 70 mile ultra marathon and raised over £3000 for Velindre Cancer Centre. My Dad was diagnosed with mesothelioma which is an asbestos related lung cancer. Although treatment has stopped, his strength and will to fight carries on. We’ve seen first hand what wonderful work Velindre does, and this is my way of supporting and giving back to them.

So… this year I thought I would take it a step further and participate in Rat Race Castle to Castle which takes me on a 100 mile stretch from Bamburgh Castle to Edinburgh Castle. This race has a cut off time of 48 hours but I’m hoping to get this done in just under 24 hours. So fingers crossed with my training, determination and strength shown from my dad, I will get this done.

Any donations small or large are much appreciated💚
