Paul's fundraiser for Cycling Without Age Chester

Cycle 310 miles in July
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Throughout the month of July I am looking to raise as much money as possible for a local charity, Cycling Without Age - Chester. I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible by raising awareness of this fantastic charity chapter and by cycling an average of 10 miles per day for every day of the month, so 310 miles in total. I am hoping to do all of these miles where possible... on a Penny Farthing!
Obviously, 10 miles each day is a bit boring and routine, so this just an average... I will do longer rides over less days, taking you with me by posting pictures, updates and photos of interesting places etc that the "Penny" and I visit and keep supporters updated as the miles accumulate.
Anyway, about my charity of choice;
CWA - Chester are part of ‘Cycling Without Age’ a non-profit global initiative, founded in Copenhagen in 2012.
Chester CWA's chapter started in 2019 and after a couple of uncertain years due to Covid they were delighted to take ownership of two trishaws in early 2022 following generous donations from:
Cheshire West and Chester Crowdfunding Campaign
Cheshire Community Foundation
The Earl of Chesters’ Fund
The trishaws are based at Upton Dene Care Home in Upton by Chester and Blacon. They are ridden in the lovely Countess of Chester Country Park and along the millennium greenway. They also transport passengers to other locations around the city such as Hoole parks The trishaws are for use by care homes and the local residents. They can also be seen attending events around the city such as those put on as part of the great big green week and the Active Travel Festival
CWA Chester hope that through awareness and further fundraising they will be able to expand the fleet of trishaws in Chester so this fabulous initiative is more widely available. They strive to help to end loneliness and isolation in the community, to give the elderly freedom and fresh air, to help them reconnect with nature and the community and to help them ‘feel the wind in their hair!’.
They are a small charity of four trustees who rely on donations and grants to cover the operational costs of providing this service, mainly insurance, trishaw maintenance, administration etc. Any sum, however small, is gratefully received and helps them make a real difference to our local community.
Their guiding principles are of generosity, slowness, storytelling, relationships and without age.
Their volunteer pilots take people out on ‘trishaw’ cycle rides to feel the wind in their hair. They help older people and those with mobility difficulties. Their rides are comfortable, fun and free. They enable people to experience the city and nature close-up from the comfort of the tricycle which has a folding roof cover and warm blankets so that they can also be enjoyed on more chilly or damp days. This is a very worthwhile cause which I am keen to support.
Their trishaws are three-wheel cycles with a passenger cab out front and have electrical power assist, so there’s no need to be super-sporty to be a volunteer. For more info, visit their website on https://cyclingwithoutage.org.uk/chester/
Finally, thank you so much in advance for any amount you may donate, however small. Every single penny raised will help this wonderful and valuable charity to continue their work in getting people out into the community, meeting people and just having a chat or share memories they have.
