If you would like to help me to raise money to support sending the Northern Ireland team to the World Transplant Games then please read on and remember to click on 'View Gallery' where we will add pics as we go along.
In August of this year Transplant Sport Northern Ireland (TSNI) are sending a team of 28 athletes, 23 transplanted and 5 living donors to compete in the World Transplant Games. It will be the first time ever for a wholly dedicated team from Northern Ireland.
The seven-day program caters to both elite and social athletes and attracts 2,500 participants from up to 60 nations. The cost of registration and accommodation alone is approximately £43,000.
TSNI do not receive any government or sports funding which is why as a small charity we are so grateful for every donation made by local businesses, friends, family and supporters.
TSNI and individual competitors are collectively fundraising to get us and our support team including our team doctor, physio and athletics coach to Germany.
The NI Transplant team is made up of individuals who have had heart, liver, kidney and stem cell transplants. Each of these athletes would not be alive if it wasn't for their donors.
Whilst our participation in the World Transplant Games allows us to promote the power of organ donation, it also gives us an opportunity to publicly thank our donor families by being the best version of ourselves and making the most of our second chance at life. A large part of participating in any event organised by the World Transplant Games Federation is to honour Organ Donors.
Paul McCrystal is competing in two events – Golf Individual and Golf Team. There are 4 golfers in total from Northern Ireland and they are competing with 150+ other golfers from around the world.
There is running, cycling, swimming, track and field and many other sporting events. Also included - an Opening and Closing Ceremony, a Service of Remembrance as well as a Cultural Evening. Further information is located at www.wtg2025.com
If you feel you are able to make a donation, no matter how large or small from friends, family members and any other supporters please do so via this page
Also we give thanks, to our corporate sponsors and donations from (EXTRATEC, Rainey Restorations, syncliving and Pablo the Man with a Van) and special thanks to John Linehan, Brian Rainey and Christian Hood who are joining us as supporters in Dresden.
