Paul's fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Paul McDowall is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Annapurna & Tilicho Lake Trek, Nepal · 18 October 2026

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

🏔️ One Trek. Thousands of Metres. One Life-Changing Cause.

On 18th October, I head back to the Himalayas for another epic adventure.

Four years ago, I trekked to Everest Base Camp — an unforgettable experience — but this challenge will be far tougher. This time, I’ll be trekking in the Annapurna range, home to Annapurna I, the 10th highest mountain in the world, standing at a staggering 8,091 metres.

The trek will take me to Tilicho Lake, the largest high-altitude lake in the world, sitting at 4,919 metres, before crossing the legendary Thorung La Pass — the highest accessible trekking pass in the world at 5,416 metres.

When I trekked to Everest Base Camp, I set my fundraising target at £534.60 — 10p for every metre of altitude at base camp. Thanks to incredible support, I raised just over £4,500.

💥 This time, my target is £600 — again based on 10p for every metre we’ll reach.

But here’s the challenge…

👉 What if we could turn that 10p into £1 per metre?

📊 Challenge: £1 for every metre climbed. Thousands of metres. One powerful cause.

I will once again be raising money for Motor Neurone Disease, a cause that means a great deal to me. This journey will push me physically and mentally in extreme altitude and conditions, and I hope it can help raise vital funds and awareness.

Every donation — no matter the size — brings me one step closer to the summit and helps support an incredible cause.

Thank you so much for your support 🙏
