Story

In April 2024, my world changed with being diagnosed out of the blue with stage 4 Lung cancer.

My cancer had spread to my brain showing seven tumors. I had also developed a tumor on an adrenal gland above my kidney.

After being diagnosed i was desperate to start running again, which the first few months I was told it was not possible. So i volunteered at my local Park Run in Totnes where i became gate Marshall 2 ! The energy it created for me was immense and gave me the determination to run. I finally got the green light to run again and achieved this in June. I was extremely lucky to have a fabulous Oncologist who is also a runner and told me about the MOVE Against Cancer charity. As a family we headed to our local MOVE event and from my 8 year old granddaughter to my daughters and son in laws they all took their first steps running ! My wife and young grandson waved enthusiastically as we ran the 5K.

I am very lucky to have a very supportive wife and family. They made this day and event very special.

The more i looked into MOVE charity it became the charity i feel i want to support as they encourage anyone where possible to get out into nature and move !

April 2025 will be one year since my Cancer diagnosis, so i have decided to run the 10 mile (17km) "Power Run" at Powerderham Castle in Exeter, (5/4/25) I kindly ask you all to donate any spare pennies you may have to support this fantastic charity.

There's increasing evidence that moving more during and after cancer treatment can significantly improve physical & mental well being. MOVE is embarking on a mission to support & inspire people to Move Against Cancer. We deliver an 8 week online programme for 13-30 year olds diagnosed with cancer. Our 5k Your Way initiative linked with parkrun, is a supportive community for anyone affected by cancer to go along to their local group & walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer on the last Saturday of the month. We also have a variety of online resources.
