It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

In 2023 I did a sponsored run in memory of my Mum who died from Pancreatic Cancer the previous year. I did it in aid of Sue Ryder, who provided incredible care at the end of her life.

At the start of this year I decided I should work toward two more sponsored runs, the Brighton 10k and the Hackney Half. This time I'm supporting Pancreatic Cancer UK, who provided incredible support at the start of her diagnosis.

Their website and phoneline proved to be a vital source of information and comfort. They were able to guide us through the illness at times when doctors were unavailable to advise. They also provided the incredibly painful statistics that we needed to know, such as this:

It's a scary stat and even scarier because the percentage has barely changed over the last 50 years, when compared to other cancers. This is because it's so hard to detect. The incidences are increasing too, by 8% in the last 10 years.

So, as you can imagine, I feel strongly that this is a cancer we should all work towards finding better diagnosis and treatment for. So ... I'd be unbelievably grateful if you're able to spare a few quid to sponsor me. I'm aiming to raise £150 for the Brighton 10k and £350 for the Hackney Half.

Thank so much! It's really appreciated and means a lot to me. Let's hope it'll make a difference to our future.
