Why We’re Supporting Liverpool CHICS & Alder Hey Children’s Charity

In October 2025, our lives changed forever when our beautiful two-year-old daughter, Bunny, was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Nothing can truly prepare a family for hearing those words. The fear, uncertainty and countless questions that follow are overwhelming. Whilst Bunny continues to fight with incredible courage every single day, her treatment journey is expected to continue until October 2027, when we hope to celebrate the moment she rings the bell to mark the end of her treatment.

Throughout this journey, we’ve experienced first-hand that cancer doesn’t just affect one child – it affects an entire family.

During some of our darkest days, Liverpool CHICS reached out to us with compassion, understanding and practical support. They are a remarkable local charity based at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with cancer and the families who walk alongside them. They provide emotional support, family activities, memorable experiences and moments of happiness that help children and parents escape, even if only for a short time, the reality of cancer treatment.

Alongside CHICS, the incredible team at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital has cared for Bunny with unwavering professionalism, compassion and kindness. Every doctor, nurse, healthcare assistant and member of staff has gone above and beyond to make an unimaginably difficult situation just that little bit easier. Their expertise has given us confidence, their compassion has given us strength, and their dedication has given our daughter the very best chance of recovery.

To say thank you, and to help ensure other families receive the same incredible support that we have, myself and 11 of my close friends will be taking on the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Challenge 2026.

This challenge is about far more than reaching the summit. Every step we take is for children like Bunny, for the families currently facing the unimaginable, and for those who will sadly begin this journey in the future. We want to raise as much money as possible to support the amazing work carried out by both Liverpool CHICS and Alder Hey Children’s Charity, helping them continue to provide world-class care, emotional support and unforgettable experiences for children and their families.

We’re asking for your support, no matter how big or small. Every donation will make a genuine difference. It will help fund services that go beyond medical treatment, bringing comfort, hope and smiles to families when they need them most.

As a family, we will never be able to fully repay the kindness, care and compassion that has been shown to us. This challenge is our opportunity to give something back and help ensure these incredible charities can continue supporting families for many years to come.
