Blue Heron Training is supporting Break to change the lives of care leavers in 2025. Each year we choose a charity and all our fundraisers in the year will focus on raising the profile of this amazing charity and providing them with essential funds.

Story

On May 10th, I’ll be swapping coaching conversations for climbing boots…

Because I’ve decided to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – 24 miles, 3 mountains, 1 big reason.

This year, Blue Heron Training is proud to be supporting Break, a brilliant charity doing life-changing work with young care leavers – those stepping out of the care system and into adulthood, often without the support most of us take for granted.

The stats are sobering: 40% of care leavers face homelessness in their first year.

Break is changing that. They provide mentoring, emotional support, job skills, and even help furnishing a young person’s very first home. It’s practical, powerful, and genuinely life-changing work.

So while I’m trudging up Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, dodging blisters and probably talking to sheep, I’ll be thinking about the young people Break walks alongside every day – giving them the support they need to take their own brave steps into independence.

💥 Here’s what your donation could do:

£27 = a one-to-one therapeutic session to help a young person work through trauma

£60 = helps furnish their first home – a space to feel safe and proud of

£122 = supports job skills training on Break’s legendary CoffeeBreak van

£284 = matches a care leaver with a trained mentor for guidance and support

Any donation – big or small – would mean the world.

Thank you for backing me (and Break) on this journey. Let’s climb some peaks and break some cycles.
