Event: Twilight Walk 2023, on 23 June 2023
Since 2013, our amazing Twilight Walk participants have raised over £150,000 for breast and gynaecological projects. This year we hope to raise more and take our funds even further for new state-of-the-art equipment.

Story

I shall be joining others at this event, such a great cause. As you may know I have and still am going through treatment for Ovarian Cancer. The medical team treating me at both Bournemouth and Poole hospital have been fantastic. This is to raise funds for future patients wellbeing.

Thousands of women from every part of our community face breast cancer or gynaecological health concerns each year. While we cant stop cancer, together we can help raise funds to help treat it.

This year we're focusing on raising money so we can adopt Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for patients with ovarian cancer. This is a relatively new way to administer chemotherapy to patients with advanced ovarian cancer after surgery. It does not replace the intravenous chemotherapy that patients receive, however research shows that by administering heated chemotherapy (42oC) directly to the tissues impacted by cancer after surgery can greatly benefit patients and even improve their overall survival. This is extremely important because the prognosis for advanced ovarian cancer is usually poor.

We are raising funds to do what we can to improve this for every woman in our community.
