We offer free support to people with cancer and their loved ones

Story

Why Maggie's?

So June 2022, Mum became poorly and was taken into hospital (Chester ) and she went through so much , sepsis, perforated bowel, suspected heart attack .

In October 2022, it was confirmed that our Mum , Nan, Jan,  had pancreatic cancer. Mum underwent, a life threatening operation. (The Royal Liverpool University Hospital) TRLUH ) The operation successfully removed the tumour. But it also resulted  in Mum becoming a person living with a stoma and diabetes but we’re so grateful for TRLUH basically saving and pro longing Mums life .

Following chemotherapy, Mum is being regularly monitored incase of reoccurrence but we’re remaining positive , our , Mum, Nan Jan is so brave .

When Mum is on her chemotherapy treatment, part way through I go over to Maggie's  ( Wirral clatterbridge) . I'll have a quiet moment or chat with the supportive and kind people working and volunteering there. Maggie's is a fantastic charity, set up to support people and families suffering with the effects of cancer.

Maggie's Centres offers practical and emotional support. The support is for any people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funds and rely on the generosity of their supporters. They focus on the things that really make a difference, such as financial worries, housing, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as side effects of treatment and they offer family support.

They offer this through 1-1 support or group sessions. There are 24 centres in the UK and 4 in London, welcoming 100+ visitors into each centre every day.

Heartfelt news for North Wales, as a new centre is planned in Denbighshire for 2025 , which will benefit so many more families . Many will have a choice to not have to travel so far to receive the support so needed ! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Any donation  would be greatly received.

Thank you. Paula, xxx
