Story
Oakhaven Walk 2025
Call me mad at my age, but, after many years of using the facilities of Oakhaven and with the recent support I am now receiving, I decided, I wanted to give something back. So have registered myself to walk 26 miles from Sandbanks to Oakhaven Hospice , Lymington on 17 May 2025.
Many of you will already know my reasons, however, as a brief overview there have been occasions where Kit and I have used the facilities. The first with James, my eldest son when he had cancer, also my dad and following the loss of dad, mum used the day centre, in particular supporting mum with her disability. Now Kit and I are receiving support following his diagnosis of Lewy Bodies Dementia in November 2021. Oakhaven stepped in, and since August we have received help in obtaining support, navigating the system, advice and emotional support.
I shall have to train for this challenge to walk the coastal path, it has been a few years but I wanted to take up the challenge to raise money, to enjoy the coastal walk, to focus my mind for my wellbeing and help me on this emotional journey. Most importantly to secure further funding so that Oakhaven can continue their work.
Please donate whatever you can and help me reach my goal of £500.
