Big bike, big run

OC provides intensive support for young people in the Gosport and Havant areas in Hampshire who are disengaged from education. We provide vocational skills training like carpentry, mechanics and bike recycling, along with outdoor activities like rowing, sailing and cycling.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

It’s challenge time again for me! I have thought long and hard about what to do this year and how it connects to what has been happening at Oarsome Chance. Students have been working really hard on their couch to 5k and also fixing bikes to gain qualifications as well as getting out to ride them and help their mental health.

I want to raise some money to go towards a new vehicle so we can get kids to ‘Oarsome’ outdoor spaces to ride bikes and run. Nature is a great therapy. I am very fortunate I get to experience some amazing nature on two wheels and two legs (6legs when the dog comes). So, the challenges…

Challenge one is a 70k ultra marathon from Guildford to Brighton on 2nd June.

Challenge Two is in mid July and is to go up Mont Ventoux in France on my bike. There are three different routes up Mont Ventoux, so I will just have to do all 3 in a day! That’s 137km with 4,400 metres of elevation.

They both worry me massively but I will push hard and have some good mates along for the ride… and run!
