The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod was established in 1947 to promote peace and goodwill between nations and to provide education and knowledge of the arts through the delivery of an annual festival of music, folklore and dance. It is acknowledged as one of the foremost world festivals and has been nominated for a number of awards, including the Nobel Prize for Peace. During the first week of July in the beautiful town of Llangollen, Wales Welcomes the World, with singers, dancers and instrumentalists from around the globe take part in a variety of competitions adjudicated by leading names from the world of music and dance. The festival site also features additional stages with performances from both competitors and world music acts. In the evening, the 4000 capacity Pavilion plays host to a variety of concerts including world-class artists and the prestigious Choir of the World competition. The annual International Parade of Nations held during the week sees all competitors march, sing and dance through the town - a spectacular and colourful event enjoyed by hundreds. It attracts some of the world’s best artists and musicians but is rooted in its local community, committed to engaging with the local community through its volunteering, outreach projects with community groups and schools, and the heart-warming Inclusion Project. Donations and fundraising are vital for the continued work of Llangollen Eisteddfod to ensure it continues #YourLlangollen

Story

It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of my

beloved husband Paul.

A former Assistant Director of Social Services in Suffolk, Paul will be missed so much by his loving wife, his children, grandchildren,

wider family, friends, community and all those he helped during his life and career.

His funeral will take place at St Peter's Church, Felsham, Suffolk on Friday 4th August 2023 at 3.30pm.

The family will not be wearing black.

Donations in lieu of flowers please to his favourite Welsh world music festival, the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen - as shown in the photo above we used to love attending this festival as a family over the years.
