Story
We are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge!
I’ve been up plenty of mountains in the French Alps over the years but usually in a chair lift and skied back down at high speed!
So something tells me climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowden is going to be one hell of a personal challenge but a memorable life experience for very different personal reasons!
We sadly lost my younger brother Mark on 21st July 2014 to Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), which is a cancer of the bone marrow and blood. He was only 39 years old and he would have turned 50 this year.
Fortunately CML has been transformed from a life-threatening disease to a manageable chronic disease for most patients and people are living longer with CML and experiencing fewer treatment side effects.
So for me this is very much a personal challenge and to help raise awareness and money for a cause that truly matters. Teens Unite is a charity that improves the lives of teenagers and young adults living with and beyond cancer.
They unite young people aged 13–24 who share the experience of cancer through activities and residential stays, enabling them to thrive in life and reach their potential. For teenagers and young adults, cancer has a lasting impact on their mental and physical health, education and employment, friendships and relationships.
I have just completed a recent climb up Helvellyn, (15m shorter than Scafell Pike) but a really good test! However 3 of those ‘back-to-back’ in 24hrs will be challenging so more gym training sessions required!
Please dig deep and support “Team Eurovia” in our sponsorship campaign to raise as much money as possible for Teens Unite Fighting Cancer.
If you can, please donate and support the journey.
Thank you ❤️
