Story

Meet Paul, Taking on Bayston Hill - One Step at a Time

Say hello to Paul Smith – a determined, kindhearted individual who’s about to take on a very special walk around Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury. For Paul, this isn’t just a stroll – it’s a personal milestone and a bold statement. He’s walking to raise awareness for all people who, like him, live with complex needs and require round-the-clock support.

Paul lives with health and safety vulnerabilities, experiences anxiety, and requires help keep him safe. He’s supported by a dedicated team who help him manage daily living tasks, access the community safely, and maintain his wellbeing. Though routines and unexpected changes can feel overwhelming at times, Paul has found his own way to thrive with the right support in place.

“This walk is for everyone, not only those needing some support. We all matter, and we deserve to be seen.” Paul.

Paul is gentle, thoughtful, and very aware of what helps him feel safe. Whether it’s carrying his wallet with staff while out in the community, or ensuring the bathwater is just the right temperature, he takes part in life with care and courage. With his staff by his side, he’s ready to take each step around Bayston Hill with pride – showing that people with complex needs can still set goals, accomplish challenges, and make a difference.

Why Paul’s Walk Matters

Paul’s challenge is about visibility, understanding, and dignity. He wants the world to know that individuals with care needs are not limited by their support, they are uplifted by it. By supporting Paul’s walk, you’re helping to shine a light on the importance of accessible, person-centred care and the amazing things people can achieve when given the right foundation.

Where the Funds Will Go

Funds raised through Paul’s walk will go toward enhancing support services and life-enriching opportunities for people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and other challenges, ensuring more people like Paul can continue to live fulfilling lives in the community.

Join Team Paul!

Cheer him on, donate to his cause, or share his journey to help spread awareness. With every step Paul takes around Bayston Hill, he’s making a statement, that everyone deserves to be included, supported, and celebrated.

Let’s walk beside Paul, in spirit and in purpose, and help build a more inclusive world for everyone.
