Story

Our Mission

On 16th September, my dog Griffin and I will be climbing Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest peak in Wales. We’re taking on this challenge together to raise money for an incredible cause: Essex Search and Rescue.

The Charity

Essex Search and Rescue is a team of dedicated volunteers who work day and night to locate missing and vulnerable people across our county. They drop everything when someone’s life is in danger, rain or shine, day or night. They do this for free, with incredible commitment and care.

I wanted to do something in return—something that would challenge me (and my four-legged partner!) and help raise funds to support their life-saving work.

The Adventure

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) stands at 1,085 meters, and we’ll be taking the Ranger path all the way to the top.

Climbing Snowdon has been on my bucket list for a while, and doing it with Griffin by my side makes it even more meaningful. He’s a typical border collie—smart, full of energy, and always up for a challenge. While we don’t have many mountains here in Essex (or, well, any), we’ve made the most of what we’ve got. He’s been building up his stamina on ever-longer trails, and I’ve been doing my best to keep up!

Griff’s the kind of dog who makes you believe anything’s possible. And if I start slowing down on the way to the summit, well, he’ll probably just herd me to the top. This isn’t just my adventure, it’s ours.

Griff’s safety is paramount. This will be my first mountain (and let’s be honest, I could get lost going round the supermarket!) so with that in mind, I’ve hired a guide from Walk Snowdonia to keep us on the right track.

Every donation will help Essex Search and Rescue continue to provide emergency help when it's needed most. Your support could help fund vital equipment, training, and resources for the volunteers who give up their time to help others.

If you’re able to donate, thank you. And if not, please consider sharing this page—you never know who might be able to help.

Thanks for reading, and wish us luck! Griffin and I will keep you updated on our progress and post some pictures from the climb—muddy paws guaranteed.
